TESA

Tesa is an experimental post-metal band from Riga, Latvia, formed in 2005. Their music merges elements of sludge, noise, ambient, and industrial music, built on shifting dynamics, deep atmospheric layering, and physical intensity. Tesa’s work is defined by its emotional weight and sonic depth — a sound that is both immersive and uncompromising.

The band released their debut album “TAGAD” in 2006, followed by “Nekad” (2007), “Heartbeatsfromthesky” (2008), and “IV” (2012), each marking a step forward in the band’s sonic evolution. In 2015, Tesa released the critically acclaimed “GHOST”, which also marked the beginning of their collaboration with Hamburg-based label My Proud Mountain. This partnership continued with the release of “Control” (2020), another critically acclaimed album that further refined the band’s sound, balancing dissonance with stark beauty. In 2025, Tesa released “INTERVAL” - a powerful and mature work that marked the band’s 20th anniversary. This album further expands TESA’s boundary-pushing approach, offering immersive and dynamic compositions that reflect the band’s continued growth and experimentation. Like their previous records, INTERVAL was created in close collaboration with producer Ģirts Laumanis (Lomiks) and recorded at Hodila Records studio in Valmiera.

Throughout their career, Tesa has performed extensively across Europe, sharing stages with bands such as Neurosis, A Storm of Light, Mutoid Man, Boris and many more, including a full European tour in direct support of Neurosis in 2016. Their live performances are known for their raw physicality, volume and immersive presence.

With two decades of continuous evolution, Tesa remains one of the most vital and respected acts in the Baltic heavy music underground. Band maintains a strong DIY ethic that is central to their identity, handling much of their production and design work themselves while collaborating closely with local artists and venues. This commitment to creative freedom and authenticity informs every aspect of their work. Beyond their own music, TESA has been an important force in sustaining and growing Latvia’s underground scene, supporting and organizing local events and fostering collaboration within the region’s experimental and heavy music community.
